The Millstone Family Restaurants have been serving homestyle meals with a commitment to quality, affordability, and friendly service in the Black Hills since 1981. As a locally owned and operated restaurant, we take pride in offering delicious all-day breakfast, daily specials, and classic comfort food to our guests in Rapid City and Spearfish, South Dakota.

Our Story

In 1981, Jerry and Joan Scriver opened our first location on West Main in Rapid City, laying the foundation for what would become a beloved family dining experience in the region. Today, this location is operated by part-owner Greta Holzworth, their daughter.

Our second location on North LaCrosse Street opened in 1993, originally a partnership between Jerry, Joan, and Joan’s sister, Sue Mann. In 2012, Ted L. Diehl, a dedicated Millstone team member since 2002, became part-owner after serving as General Manager since 2005.

The success of our Rapid City locations led to the opening of the Spearfish Millstone Family Restaurant in 1996. This location is now operated by part-owner Brandy Rosenau, who has been part of the Millstone team since 1997, alongside Lacey Nepper, who joined in 2007.
